My First Attempt was Painful.
Back in 2007, I found myself in desperate need of a costume for my first solo performance.
With time running out, I embarked on a challenging mission to find a costume online and offline. The catch? It had to meet 3 criteria: fit my size, fit my budget, and fit my taste.
Frustrated by the lack of options, I decided to take matters into my own hands. Armed with determination and inspiration from very little knowledge I gathered from my teacher, I delved into online research, hoping to unravel the secrets of costume creation.
With courage and a pinch of uncertainty, I began crafting my costume, making educated guesses along the way. I covered the bra cups with fabric and fashioned a belt, praying that my creation wouldn't fall apart onstage.
Thankfully, my hard work paid off, and my costume held together during the performance. Looking back, though, I realize it was a rather flimsy creation.
As time passed, I honed my skills and gained confidence in costume making. I developed ways to develop patterns that fit me like a glove and mastered various sewing techniques for professional finishes.
Now, here I stand today, eager to share what I discovered with other belly dancers. I've compiled all my sewing techniques and step-by-step costume creation process into a single program.
